Rain, Rain Go Away

As usual, we roll out of bed and head outdoors for our first bathroom break. It’s raining right down. So? You say. Rain at our house is a big deal because Trekker has refused to do his business if it’s raining. Unlike most corgis he hates to get wet. I keep an umbrella in the storage room for just an occasion. On raining days, you will find me in the middle of the yard holding the umbrella over Trekker so that he will go. Saying over and over again, “Hurry Trekker, go potty!”. I’m sure my neighbors think I’m nuts.

Not so today. Trekker walks out the basement door, sniffs the rain in the air and heads directly for backyard. There he stands with his head lifted upward allowing the rain to pour down on him. He just radiated contentment. I have no idea what happened to the boy who hates rain.

Rain also brings a possessed Trekker in the house. He is a bundle of frenzied energy that runs continuous corgi laps, goes from toy to toy, and looks for every opportunity to harass Shiloh. All of us are ready for the rain to stop and to get back to our regular routine of Trekker getting a short walk every morning and long walk every evening. What ever are we going to do when the snow comes? Guess what you’ll be doing over break, Luke?

PS Luke-- Gas is down to 2.29 a gallon today. The Mustang did get some use today as part of a corgi obstacle course.

We also received a bit of rain yesterday here in Denver; you guys chose a good weekend to visit because the warm weather is probably gone for the rest of the year. You'll have to tell me more about the obstacle course that you made.

Maybe disliking the rain is a blue merle kind of thing--my Zoey rather dislikes it as well. Whenever we walk in the rain, she has to keep her eyes closed--making it difficult to walk! Your Cardi is adorable!

A few of our herd of Corgis don't care for the rain, either...they are finally learning to run outside and get their business done as quickly as possible, except for the "Queen", Duchess...she doesn't like to get her feet wet or dirty, so we have to take her out several times to get her to go. Somedays they are worse than kids! LOL

But I wouldn't trade them for anything... :)

Waiting for the sun to shine here in Des Moines....and the yard to dry out!

I'm glad the dislike of rain isn't just at our house. Though each time he went out yesteday he was fine, before that it was only with the umbrella.

My cardigan loves SNOW. He tolerates rain, but he loves SNOW.

My family seems to think that short legs won't get him through the snow. I'll be interested to see how he likes it.

It's so much fun to watch these short legged BIG dogs bunny hop through the snow. You'll love it! I love watching the new kids experience the first snow each year, and then follow in the older siblings romps and fraps around the yard. They have a blast, and come in covered in snow. It's so cool to see how these proper double coats work...one would think they would be soaked, but a quick toweling and they are all dry. The undercoat stays nice and dry and warm. :)

Enjoy! But no snow for a while, please? I'm a southern gal at heart! ;)
